Select International to Employ Two-Tiered Virtual Job Audition® to Assess Lincoln Electric's Manufacturing Team
Pittsburgh, March 28, 2007 - Select International, a global provider of human
resource assessment solutions, is employing next-generation technology with its
Virtual Job Audition® (VJA®) to assess prospective manufacturing employees for
The Lincoln Electric Company at its plants in Euclid and Mentor, OH.
"Our VJA solution for Lincoln Electric will ensure that the company is hiring the very best people with the right skill sets and motivation to do the job, decreasing turnover in manufacturing positions," explained Kevin Klinvex, Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Select International.
The Virtual Job Audition® allows an employer to create an authentic, interactive job scenario that replicates a realistic work environment with job-relevant situations. Every aspect is designed to be a virtual simulation of the job so that employers can obtain an accurate snapshot of a candidate's skill sets and strengths.
Lincoln Electric is utilizing a two-tiered VJA. Applicants must first participate in Select Assessment® for Manufacturing, an online assessment that includes a simulated production line that requires applicants to make critical decisions during a virtual production process. Following this initial screening, potential Lincoln employees will be required to execute a series of actual exercises to see if they can handle the physical rigors of the job.
Since July 2006, Lincoln Electric has assessed more than 3,000 candidates for production and maintenance positions using the online component of the VJA process. The company plans to implement the physical production exercise later this year. Lincoln Electric expects to continue using this technology to meet future hiring needs.
"Our company places high priority on selecting the best employees for the job," said Bruce Cable, Lincoln Electric’s Director of HR. "Since we invest a significant amount of time and money training new employees, it is essential that we hire individuals who are capable of learning our jobs and who are interested in stable, long-term employment."
