Select International and Holcim Cement a Hiring Deal
-- Holcim's Missouri Plant to Hire 200 Employees --
Pittsburgh, June 19, 2007 - Pittsburgh-based Select International, a global provider of human resource assessment solutions, will partner with Holcim, one of the world’s leading supplier of cement and aggregates (crushed stone, gravel and sand), to hire approximately 200 of the best and most qualified employees for the organizations newest site in Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri. The strategic mixture of Select International’s assessment products and services will enable Holcim to reach its goals of evaluating, identifying and hiring the right people for vacant line production, maintenance, quarry operators and front management level positions. All hires are expected to be completed by 2009.
“We are conscientious about the types of employees we hire,” stated Jeff Ouhl, Holcim plant manager. “And with Select International’s hiring track record, we are confident potential candidates will be qualified and will fit into the Holcim environment.”
Select International will use a combination of innovative assessment solutions to secure candidates for the technician level positions (line production, maintenance and quarry operations):
- The Web-based EZ App® and the Personal Preference Questionnaire (PPQ) give Holcim the ability to design an application system that focuses specifically on the qualities the company seeks in an employee. The PPQ questions, presented in a multiple-choice format, incorporate characteristics of Holcim’s working environment to ensure appropriate hires are made.
- Select Assessment for Manufacturing, an interactive, Web-based assessment tool, used for pre-employment screening, utilizes the latest technology to evaluate candidates for manufacturing operations positions.
- Basic Mechanical and Aptitude Reasoning Test assesses an applicants’ ability to understand basic mechanical concepts and measures aptitude rather than specific industry knowledge.
To secure Front Management level employees, Holcim will utilize the Web-based Select Assessment for Leader Manufacturing® solution, which measures key leadership competencies for first-level manufacturing supervisors or managers.
“By utilizing an array of our products, Holcim will secure the right people for the positions currently available in the region around their new facility in Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri,” noted Kevin Klinvex, Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Select International. “This particular strategy creates a winning situation for both the employee and employer.”
Holcim’s Ste. Genevieve plant is located approximately 50 miles south of St. Louis, along the Mississippi River. The state-of-the-art cement plant is expected to produce 4 million metric tons of cement to meet the growing demand in the United States.
