Testing

All of Select International’s® pre employment screening services—for selecting, promoting, and developing effective employees—incorporate multiple assessment methodologies to maximize accuracy, fairness, and realism. One of the core components of each system is an in-depth test that measures key competencies using a variety of tools. Tests fall into three broad categories:

  • Skill or ability tests
  • Personality or interest inventories
  • Knowledge tests

All of these testing methods are designed to measure a candidate’s potential to be effective in a particular job.

Select International offers several tests designed for specific industries or job functions. These are all self-reports, meaning that all data comes from the individual and is based 100 percent on the answers he/she provides. These tests provide insight into what a person is capable of doing and focuses on competencies critical for success in the target position. To help our clients evaluate test results and make the best decisions, each test establishes a success profile or “footprint.” The footprint identifies the candidates most likely to succeed in the target position. Profiles are typically established using a sample of existing employees and are then evaluated against future results.

Select International’s computer and web-based test can be used as a screening tool in the search for new hires or as a development tool in an internal performance evaluation process. In some cases, tests can be coupled with a trained assessor interview for more robust data or a 360 degree feedback instrument to provide more in-depth developmental data.
